You're walking out your door as I'm climbing into bed
Moonlight to guide you and the dreams inside your head
No one way tickets cause you know this thing won't last
The stars are shining and the night is falling fast
You're working in the nightime

The hours pass, the beat just comes and goes
Outside the window the winter wind it blows
Inside it's warm, the string create the sound
Outside the snow is falling on the ground

Visions of a better life keep you where you long to be
Visions of good times and days spent by the sea
While you're working in the nightime

Mystery deepens as the candle ends go out
No point is talking when you know what it's all about
No accusations, just state your case and go
Outside the window the winter wind does blow
While you're working in the nightime

12. Working In The Nightime
(McGowan) Yes, I know the spelling is wrong but that's the way the typo went in 1979 when I wrote it on a REAL typewriter. I've always liked this song. I think we recorded it for the Mescaline Smugglers – but I was struggling for material here so I dusted it off and did it again with Mark – Jesus is it really 40 years since I wrote this? Guitar is tuned EACEAE – as far as I can remember– possibly the C is #. Nice work from Mark here and I like my laid back vocal for a change. --Davy

One of the most pleasant dabozzes song ever- If you don't know what my word dabozzes means, check the track Nairn Avenue from the earlier box... I had work in the night time too, but it never felt that easy. --Jore
